As an independent Registered Investment Advisor, Metric Financial is a fiduciary to our clients. What does that even mean? It means we get to know our clients and invest and plan for them with no conflicts of interests. No commissions. No payments from our investment partners. Not only do we believe our clients deserve comprehensive financial services at a lower cost, we believe they deserve an advocate and complete transparency.
With more than two decades of financial industry experience, Metric's principal brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to bear. The firm has its roots in factor investing, which is based on the principle that returns can be achieved without the high fees and guesswork of traditional active mutual fund managers. Additionally, Metric maintains a network of financial professionals to help our clients with all aspects of their financial lives.

Tim began his career as a paralegal with the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, & Flom in New York City in 1994. In 1996, he made a decision to try the field of investing and finance and hasn't looked back. His first role was as a financial consultant with Smith Barney (now Morgan Stanley), but he left that to explore other areas and earn his CFA charter. Tim's passion for factor investing was ignited with a position he held at BlackRock as Head of Equity Product Strategy for US Wealth Advisory. It was there that he first learned of Smart Beta, which eventually led him to the more academically-focused factors. In 2018, after years of educating other financial advisors about them, he decided to take the concept directly to investors and Metric Financial was born.

As a son of Metric's founder, Fred has been intimately involved in the inner workings of the firm since day one. Despite spending quite a bit of time running his own freelance landscaping business, Fred has been committed to one day taking over Metric since starting his internships (summer and winter) his freshman year of college. He graduated with a B.S. in Political Science from Arizona State University in May of 2026 and also completed the Bloomberg Finance Fundamentals course during his senior year. He is currently working on completing his Series 65 registration. In his spare time, you'll find Fred working out at the gym, reading, or spending time with his dog.
